Breast lipofilling

If you’re looking to naturally increase your breast size by 1-1.5 cup sizes without using implants, you can opt for breast lipofilling, a procedure that involves transferring excess fat from areas such as the thighs, arms, or abdomen to the breasts.

Breast lipofilling is also performed in cases where there is a significant gap between the breasts or when breast implants are not properly positioned, resulting in an inadequate upper breast volume. In some instances, even with the expertise of a skilled surgeon, lipofilling is necessary to achieve ideal results, especially for individuals with a high and wide chest.

It’s important to note that lipofilling is always accompanied by liposuction.

Why do women consider breast lipofilling?

  • Small Breast Size: Many women wish to enhance their naturally small breasts and add volume.

  • Correction of Breast Shape and Asymmetry: Lipofilling is an effective solution for correcting breast asymmetry or excessive space between the breasts.

  • Rippling and Incorrect Implant Placement: Instead of repositioning implants, lipofilling can often address issues such as visible implant borders or an inadequately filled upper breast.

Who Is a suitable candidate for the surgery?

This procedure is suitable for individuals who meet specific criteria:

  • Close to Ideal Weight: Lipofilling is most effective for individuals whose weight is near the ideal range and stable. This ensures better results and a higher chance of successful fat tissue grafting.

  • Good Health: Candidates for lipofilling should be in good health without medical conditions that could interfere with healing or increase the surgical risk. Overall health is crucial to minimize risks and complications during and after the surgery.

  • No Harmful Habits: Non-smokers or those willing to quit smoking are the best candidates for lipofilling. Smoking can negatively impact the healing and grafting process of fat tissue.

  • Realistic Expectations and Adequate Fat: Candidates should have realistic expectations regarding the procedure’s results and have sufficient fat in donor areas.

Why choose South Korea for breast lipofilling?

South Korea is renowned for conducting the highest number of cosmetic procedures and surgeries worldwide. Local doctors are considered some of the most educated and competitive globally, with only 0.01% of medical school graduates becoming plastic surgeons. Korea’s medical equipment and facilities are on par with those in the United States and Germany, placing it among the top three countries with the best clinic technical equipment.

All breast lipofilling procedures are performed in accredited clinics with permits to treat foreign patients, and they have in-house anesthesiologists. Surgeons conducting these procedures have 15 to 30 years of experience, specializing in mammaplasty and soft tissue surgeries, performing no more than two surgeries per day.

Preparation before surgery

  • Fasting: Refrain from eating or drinking for 8 hours prior to the procedure. Take a shower.

  • Medications: Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen (including medications like Advil or Motrin), and other drugs that may increase the risk of bleeding for 2 weeks before the surgery. Tylenol is prohibited only within 3 days before the operation.

  • Smoking: Do not smoke, including hookah and electronic cigarettes. Smoking reduces blood flow to the skin and can slow down tissue healing. If you smoke, your doctor may recommend quitting before the surgery. Some doctors may refuse to perform surgery on smoking patients due to the high risk of complications. Avoid being around smokers or in public places designated for smoking.

  • Medical History: Review your medical history. Be prepared to answer questions about current and past illnesses, as well as any recent medications you have taken. Please do not hide this information from the surgeon and coordinators.

  • Consultation with Surgeon: Visit the surgeon for an examination. To determine treatment options, the doctor will examine the intended surgical area, including the position of the nipples/areolas.

  • Bring Test Results: If possible, bring or send the results of mammography or breast biopsy. If this is not possible, the necessary tests will be conducted in Korea.

  • Transportation: Arrange for someone to take you to the clinic or assist you after the operation. Driving a car on the day of breast surgery is strictly prohibited.

  • Prepare Essentials: Place items next to your bed that may be needed during rest, such as lip balm, water, a chocolate bar, or a mobile phone.

Surgery process

Before the surgery begins, during the final consultation, the surgeon will outline the surgical design and discuss it with the client. They will also address any questions the patient may have, especially those that may have arisen during sleepless nights before the operation.

Next, the patient is asked to visit the restroom, confirm the timing of their last food and water intake, and is escorted to the operating room. A catheter is inserted into the arm, and medications used before anesthesia are administered through it. The surgical area is disinfected, and the patient’s hands and legs are secured with straps to minimize the possibility of movement during sleep. Blood pressure is measured, and anesthesia is administered.

Once the medication takes effect and the patient falls asleep, the surgeon administers a pain-relieving injection (usually into the buttocks) and begins the surgery. First, a medical solution is injected under the skin, which turns solid subcutaneous fat into liquid. After a few minutes, it is suctioned out using a cannula.

After completing the fat removal procedure, the incision edges (2-4mm) are sutured with threads, and the fat is placed in a special machine that separates it from blood and medical solution. After the separation process is complete, the surgeon injects the fat into the breast using a syringe, and the surgery concludes. The donor area and breast area are thoroughly dried with towels, and the patient is awakened and assisted to their room for further rest and recovery.

What to expect after surgery

After the surgery is completed, a translator and medical nurses wake you up and help you move to your room. Most patients do not remember this moment, and it feels like they woke up in a warm bed – this is the effect of anesthesia.

In the first 10-20 minutes after waking up, you may feel chilly, but this will pass quickly. There is a warming mattress on your bed to make this period more comfortable. Pain sensations will be minimal, as they are dulled by pain-relieving injections and medications used during the operation. You will be offered a rest, orange juice, and porridge to help you recover faster.

One hour after waking up, you should stand up and walk for 5-10 minutes in the clinic corridors. During this walk, you may feel discomfort in the donor areas, similar to muscle stretching after a workout, but it will help you adapt to the symptoms and understand your condition after the surgery. If you do not experience symptoms such as nausea and dizziness, the clinic staff will start preparing you for discharge – you can change clothes, put on compression garments, pick up medications and recommendations, and go home.

Every time you move and strain the area where liposuction was performed, you may feel discomfort similar to muscle pain. However, there will be no painful sensations in a resting position, and within 5-7 days, your body will recover. In the chest area, discomfort is usually absent.

Post-operative recovery process and procedures

After the Procedure: Immediately after the liposuction procedure, you will be wearing compression garments in the treated area. You may experience muscle soreness, similar to what you might feel after a workout, in the liposuction area. There will be no bandages on the chest. In the first few minutes after waking up, you may feel cold chills, which are a result of anesthesia and fat transfer; these typically subside within 20-30 minutes. If you are feeling well, you can leave the clinic within 2-4 hours after the operation.

Day 1-2: Bruising and swelling may occur, especially in the area where liposuction was performed. It’s recommended to sleep on your back with your upper body slightly elevated. The more you move and return to your regular activities, the better.

Days 3-7: Avoid strenuous physical activity during this period, but you can start taking showers. At the end of this period, stitches will be removed, and you may receive post-operative treatments such as laser therapy for swelling and wound care.

Days 7-14: Swelling will decrease, and bruises from liposuction will gradually fade, along with discomfort. Avoid wearing tight underwear and clothing that compresses the chest, and refrain from sleeping on your stomach.

Days 14-21: Discomfort from the liposuction procedure will completely subside. You should still avoid intense workouts and physical exercises. You can take showers without restrictions and without using waterproof bandages, but limit them to 15 minutes.

Days 21-30: Your chest will start to regain its natural position and shape, and swelling will continue to diminish. At this stage, avoid lifting heavy weights and engaging in strenuous physical activities. Continue to sleep on your back.

Days 31-60: Most of the swelling will have subsided, and you may see 80-90% of the final results. Avoid weight loss, strict diets, and wearing tight sports or undergarments. You can gradually start incorporating physical activity.

Days 60-90: You can begin wearing lightweight underwear and sleep on your side. However, it’s still important not to compress or constrict the chest.

Days 90-180: The remaining swelling will completely disappear, and the chest and liposuction areas will assume their final shapes. You can swim in the sea, sunbathe, and consume alcohol without restrictions. You can also consider incorporating dietary adjustments and wearing undergarments with boning for support.
