Breast surgeries

Female breasts can be a source of pride or a cause of disappointment and discomfort. We have already helped thousands of women regain their desired body contours and restore comfort and self-confidence. We offer all types of breast surgeries in Korea, including breast augmentation with implants, breast augmentation using fat (breast lipofilling), breast reduction, breast lift, nipple and areola reshaping, and breast reconstruction. For men, we provide gynecomastia surgery.

Breast surgery, such as mammoplasty, should be done right the first time. We regularly select surgeons for revision surgeries in cases where the breast size and placement significantly differ or if there is rippling (wrinkles on the skin through which implant folds are visible). To avoid this, remember that surgery by an experienced plastic surgeon cannot be inexpensive, and original Mentor and Motiva implants are made from high-tech and modern materials, making them costly to manufacture and store. Beware of counterfeit products and inexperienced intern surgeons offering half-price procedures.

A skilled surgeon will recommend the breast shape and implant size that best suit your body parameters and chest size. We recommend listening to the advice of professionals for excellent mammoplasty results!

Types of breast surgery

Breast augmentation with implants

In Korea, there are five types of breast implants available, but we recommend choosing from three: Sebbin, Mentor, or Motiva. Each has its pros and cons, which you can read about in our blog. Motiva breast implants, manufactured in Costa Rica, are the most popular. They do not require replacement, have the most natural filler, and their shells do not use sugars and salts, increasing biological compatibility and reducing the risk of seroma and contracture.

Breast lipofilling

Breast lipofilling is a procedure aimed at enlarging the breasts using the patient’s own fat. It is always combined with liposuction, and after this procedure, surgeons recommend maintaining a stable weight and avoiding dieting for at least 3 months. It is essential to understand that breast lipofilling will achieve desired results only when your breasts are free of ptosis, and you do not plan to increase them by more than 1-1.5 sizes. Sometimes, to achieve the perfect result, the procedure may need to be repeated after 3-6 months.

Breast lifting

Over time, the skin in any part of our body loses its elasticity and begins to sag. If you’ve ever stood in front of a mirror and tried to lift your breasts, imagine more volume in the upper part, or cover stretch marks, breast lifting can be the solution to your problem. Breast lift is often needed by patients after childbirth and breastfeeding or women who have lost more than 20 kg in a short period. In these cases, Korean plastic surgeons may combine mammoplasty with abdominoplasty.

Breast reduction

Women with a natural breast volume exceeding 400cc may experience back and neck pain, posture issues, shoulder strain, and discomfort during physical activities or sleeping on their stomachs. In such cases, we recommend undergoing breast reduction surgery. This procedure involves reducing the volume of fatty deposits, breast tissue, removing excess skin, and reshaping the areolas. There are three types of incisions used for breast reduction: periareolar (through the nipple areolas), vertical, and anchor-shaped. Your plastic surgeon will provide guidance on which type is suitable for you.

Implants removal

Implants removal is a surgical procedure where silicone or saline breast implants are removed. The reasons for this surgery can vary; some patients choose to remove implants for personal reasons, while others may face complications. Scar tissue around the implant can also lead to this decision. During the procedure, the surgeon may also remove scar tissue or leaked silicone from the implant. This procedure may be medically necessary, such as in cases of capsular contracture, where scar tissue causes discomfort or alters the appearance of the breast. In 70% of cases, this operation is performed simultaneously with breast lift or lipofilling to restore breast shape.

Implants replacement

Implants replacement is a surgical procedure where existing breast implants are replaced. This procedure may be required for various reasons, including the aging of implants, capsular contracture, aesthetic preferences, or health concerns. The process of replacing implants is similar to the initial implantation surgery but may have some complexities depending on the condition of the first implant. The FDA recommends replacing older-style implants every 10 years. Natural aging processes, pregnancy, and weight changes can affect breast size and shape, and implant replacement can help address these changes. MOTIVA implants are the only implants on the market that do not require replacement and come with a 120-year guarantee.

Breast reconstruction

Women who have undergone mastectomy greatly benefit from breast reconstruction surgery. This procedure allows for the restoration of natural contours and volume, enabling women to wear beautiful lingerie, open clothing, and feel confident and attractive once again.

Reducing the size of the areola or nipples

Most plastic surgeons agree that the ideal size of breast areolas should be approximately 4 cm in diameter. If your areolas are larger, asymmetrical, or have irregular contours, this can be corrected through mammaplasty. The procedure is suitable for both women and men, lasts only 30 or 40 minutes, and is performed under sedation (intravenous anesthesia or twilight anesthesia).

Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is the enlargement of one or both breast glands in men. It can occur in men of different ages, body weights, and even different ethnic backgrounds. Typically, gynecomastia arises from an imbalance of testosterone and estrogen in the body or the use of steroids. We recommend our patients to consult surgeons who specialize in male mammaplasty regardless of the classification and ptosis degree.
