Egésal, also known as “Love Band,” is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure in South Korea. It involves the transplantation of fat or the use of fillers in the area beneath the lower eyelashes. This procedure results in enhanced volume under the eyes, which is considered a sign of youth and beauty.
Differentiating Egésal from traditional fat transplantation: It’s important not to confuse Egésal with traditional fat transplantation under the eyes. In traditional fat transplantation, the surgeon adds fat approximately 1-2 cm away from the eye, whereas with Egésal, the goal is to create pouches directly beneath the lower eyelashes.
Donor area and filler choice: Typically, the donor area for fat in Egésal is the upper thigh or abdomen, with an incision made near the navel. As for fillers, those with fine particles, such as Jeobel, are commonly used.
Key information about the procedure:
-
Duration of the Operation: 20-30 minutes
-
Type of Anesthesia: Sedation
-
Hospitalization: 1-2 hours
-
Return to Normal Life: The following day
-
Clinic Visits: 2-3 times
-
Stitches Removal: 7 days post-surgery
Reasons patients consider Egésal blepharoplasty:
Desire for a Younger and More Pleasant Appearance: Small pouches under the eyes can give a youthful appearance and make the eyes appear more inviting, resulting in a sweeter and friendlier overall look.
Candidates for the procedure
Egésal Blepharoplasty is suitable for patients whose facial perception has been affected by aging-related changes.
Why South Korea?
South Korea is renowned for its extensive cosmetic procedures and surgeries. Local doctors are considered among the most educated and competitive globally, with only 0.01% of medical school graduates becoming plastic surgeons. Korea’s medical equipment and facilities are on par with those in the USA and Germany, placing it among the top three countries in terms of clinic technology.
All Egésal Blepharoplasty procedures are performed in accredited clinics with permissions to treat foreign patients, along with in-house anesthesiologists. Surgeons who operate on our patients have between 15 and 30 years of experience, specializing in blepharoplasty, and perform no more than two surgeries per day.

How to prepare for love band fat transfer surgery in South Korea
Prepare yourself before the surgery with these steps:
-
Fast for 8 hours: Refrain from eating and drinking for 8 hours before the procedure. Take a shower for cleanliness.
-
Avoid certain medications: Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen (including Advil or Motrin), or any other medications that may increase the risk of excessive bleeding for 2 weeks before the surgery. Tylenol should be avoided only within 3 days before the operation.
-
Quit smoking: Smoking, including hookah and e-cigarettes, reduces blood flow to the skin and can slow down tissue healing. Your doctor may recommend quitting smoking before the operation, as some surgeons refuse to perform surgery on smokers due to the higher risk of complications. Avoid being around smokers in public places as well.
-
Review your medical history: Be prepared to answer questions about your current and past illnesses, as well as any recent medications you have taken. Do not withhold this information from your surgeon and coordinators.
-
Consult with the surgeon: Visit the surgeon for an examination and show them photos of your desired results. When selecting photos, try to choose ones where the individual has no makeup, and their natural features and ethnicity resemble yours.
-
Bring recent test results: If you have had medical tests within the last month, you can bring them with you. Otherwise, necessary tests will be conducted in Korea.
-
Arrange transportation: Ask someone to drive you to the clinic or assist you after the surgery if you plan to arrive by car.
-
Prepare bedside items: Place items near your bed that you may need during your recovery, such as lip balm, water, a chocolate bar, or your mobile phone.
Surgery process for creating under-eye bags
If you have decided to undergo blepharoplasty using your own fat, here is what happens during the surgery:
-
Patient preparation: The patient’s hands and legs are secured on the operating table, and the injection area and donor area are disinfected. An anesthesiologist administers a sedative solution into the bloodstream.
-
Fat extraction: After the patient falls asleep, the surgeon uniformly extracts a small amount of fat using a tiny cannula from the chosen area. The fat is then placed in a device to separate it from medical fluids and is injected under the eyes using a syringe. The injection sites are sealed with tiny plasters. The patient is awakened and taken to the recovery room.
For procedures using fillers, the process is similar to a regular clinic visit, with the doctor discussing the procedure, disinfecting the injection area, and injecting the substance under the skin.
No need to return to the clinic after 7 days; you can return to your hometown and enjoy the results.
What to expect after the surgery
After the surgery is complete, a translator and medical staff will wake you up and assist you to your room. Most patients don’t remember this moment as the anesthesia takes effect.
In the first 10-20 minutes after waking up, you may feel a bit chilly. There’s a warming mattress on your bed to make this period more comfortable. You’ll experience minimal pain, but there might be slight swelling.
You’ll remain in the clinic for another 1-2 hours after the operation with an intravenous catheter delivering medication. After the catheter is removed, the coordinator and medical staff will check your condition. If you don’t experience dizziness or nausea, you can prepare for discharge, which includes changing clothes, picking up prescribed medications, and following post-operative recommendations.
Before bedtime, place a few pillows under your head to reduce swelling and take the prescribed pain medication.
In the following days, you may experience minor swelling and light bruising, which will quickly subside. On the 7th day after the surgery, you should return to the clinic for a check-up and removal of stitches from the donor area.
