Blepharoplasty

Many people believe that individuals with larger eyes are considered more attractive, honest, and friendly. As a result, procedures such as canthoplasty, ptosis correction, fat repositioning, and double eyelid surgery have become popular among young patients seeking plastic surgery. Older clients often turn to anti-aging surgeries such as upper and lower blepharoplasty to rejuvenate their eye area, giving them a refreshed and healthy appearance.

Double eyelid surgery (asian blepharoplasty)

If you have a single eyelid that makes your eyes appear smaller than they are, the solution may be double eyelid surgery, also known as Asian blepharoplasty. There are two methods for this procedure: incisional blepharoplasty and non-incisional blepharoplasty. We recommend incisional surgery to our clients for several reasons:

  • Permanent results: Incisional blepharoplasty provides long-lasting results, while non-incisional techniques may require repeat surgeries every 3-5 years.

  • Fat removal: In incisional blepharoplasty, the surgeon not only removes excess skin but also addresses under-eye fat, reducing the tired and puffy look.

  • Collagen production: Unlike some non-incisional techniques that use threads, double eyelid surgery stimulates collagen production, preventing scar formation and maintaining natural facial expressions.

  • Suitable for various ages: Incisional blepharoplasty is suitable for both young and older patients, as it can address different concerns effectively.

Epicantoplasty

Epicantoplasty is often performed in conjunction with double eyelid surgery. This procedure aims to correct the Mongolian fold at the inner corner of the eye, which covers the tear mound. The outcome of epicantoplasty includes a more open and expressive gaze, bringing distant eyes closer together, visually narrowing the nose bridge, and eliminating ptosis.

Canthoplasty and Canthopexy

Canthoplasty and canthopexy are plastic surgeries that can modify or enhance the shape and tilt of the eyes. In some regions, they are more commonly performed as anti-aging procedures, while Korean plastic surgeons regularly adjust eye size and shape for younger patients. The primary difference between these surgeries lies in the technique:

  • Canthopexy is a simplified version of canthoplasty that does not involve cutting the canthal ligaments but instead lifts and secures them to the orbital rim, achieving eye corner tightening.

In terms of recovery and results, there is minimal difference between the two procedures. We recommend consulting with a surgeon for a personalized assessment and recommendation based on your specific eye shape and goals.

Love Band (Egyosal)

The Love Band procedure is a popular plastic surgery among Koreans aged 20 to 40. It involves the use of fillers or lipofilling to create a small pouch beneath the lower eyelid. This technique makes the eyes appear larger and the face naturally expressive. Love Band surgery is considered an age-reversal procedure and is suitable for both men and women of various ethnic backgrounds.

Subbrow eyelid surgery

Subbrow blepharoplasty is one of the most popular procedures among our clients. The technique is quite simple: the surgeon makes a thin incision just below the eyebrow and lifts the skin upwards, removing excess skin and restoring the elasticity and youthfulness to the eyelids.

Don’t be alarmed by the possibility of scars. With proper care and the surgeon’s expertise, after just two weeks, all that remains at the incision site is a slight redness, which can be easily concealed with foundation or concealer.

Subbrow is considered an anti-aging procedure, but it is also sought after by younger patients who want to eliminate sagging skin above the eyes without altering the shape of the upper eyelid crease. This procedure is not suitable for patients with low or drooping eyebrows, as it reduces the distance between the eye and the eyebrow by removing excess skin. In such cases, we recommend a forehead lift using endotine plates or a traditional blepharoplasty.

Transconjunctival blepharoplasty

As people age, fat accumulates under the eyes, creating bags and uneven dark circles that about 95% of individuals wish to eliminate. Unfortunately, creams and massages are ineffective here—the only effective method is plastic surgery.

The surgeon makes a small incision just below the eyelash line on the conjunctiva, redistributes fatty tissue deposits, and closes the incision with self-dissolving sutures. There are no external visible stitches, so after the swelling subsides, there will be no visible signs of the surgical intervention.

In some cases, additional tiny incisions of 1mm in size may be made on the outer side of the skin to secure or separate fat hernias. There is no need to fear these incisions, as they are so small that they are difficult to find within a week, and any traces completely disappear within 1-2 months.

If you do not plan to undergo lower eyelid surgery shortly after the operation, we recommend redistributing and transplanting additional donor fat to the under-eye area. This helps prevent wrinkles and sagging skin, extending the results of the surgery for several years.

Ptosis correction

Blepharoplasty with ptosis correction is a precise way to bring youthfulness and freshness back to your eyes. Over the years, the upper eyelids can lose their elasticity and begin to droop, giving the gaze a tired and aged appearance. This procedure not only removes excess skin and restores the natural shape of the eyelids but also corrects the muscles responsible for lifting the eyelid, restoring their functionality.

Its goal is not only cosmetic improvement but also the restoration of full vision, which may have been limited due to drooping eyelids. During the surgery, the surgeon carefully strengthens weak or stretched muscle tissues, and the patient experiences no pain as they are under sedative anesthesia.

The postoperative period is easy and quick, and already within 1-2 weeks, patients can enjoy a youthful look without signs of fatigue and “half-closed” eyelids.

Lower blepharoplasty

In cases where a patient not only has uneven fat deposits under the eyes but also wrinkles and sagging skin, a surgeon performs lower blepharoplasty.

The incision is made below the eyelash line and extends a few millimeters down beside the outer corner of the eye. The surgeon removes excess skin and redistributes fat deposits.

Don’t forget to care for the scar after suture removal, and within a few months or even weeks, it will completely disappear.

Upper blepharoplasty

To help patients regain their youthfulness, plastic surgeons in South Korea perform upper blepharoplasty. The procedure includes removing excess fat deposits, eliminating excess skin tissue, creating a new eyelid crease, and lifting the eye muscles. This is especially beneficial for patients with ptosis, which hinders their ability to open their eyes wide.

After upper blepharoplasty, clients often note that their faces look significantly younger, wrinkles and bags have disappeared, and applying makeup has become easier. Some even report improved vision. In South Korea, upper blepharoplasty may or may not include ptosis correction, so it’s essential to clarify the procedure with your surgeon or medical coordinator.

Circular blepharoplasty with ptosis correction

Circular blepharoplasty is recommended for patients over the age of 30 who have ptosis of the skin tissues and stretching of the circular eye muscles. Most surgeons recommend performing both upper and lower eyelid correction simultaneously. This can save you from going through another rehabilitation process after a few years, as well as reduce the overall cost of the operation, providing harmonious rejuvenation for the entire eye area.

Transplantation of fat under eyes

The nasojugal groove is a depression that starts at the inner corner of the eye and disappears towards the cheekbone. When the tissues around it begin to sag, and subcutaneous fat thins out, it can result in dark circles under the eyes and a tired appearance.

Mesotherapy and plasma lifting can help in the early stages of groove formation. In other cases, we recommend fillers or lipofilling. It’s crucial to inject the filler into the correct area and in the right amount to avoid the formation of lumps under the eyes. Unfortunately, once these lumps have formed, and the skin around them has stretched, there is no procedure or surgery that can completely tighten the skin and eliminate them. We are ready to recommend the best plastic surgeons in South Korea who will perform your surgery delicately and safely.

Revision blepharoplasty

It’s unfortunate if you didn’t achieve the desired results after your initial blepharoplasty. Before considering a second, third, or even fourth surgery, pause and reflect on why things didn’t go as planned. It’s not advisable to redo blepharoplasty with a surgeon who couldn’t achieve the desired results the first time. Also, avoid rushing to the clinic exactly 180 days after an unsuccessful operation. We recommend preparing for revision surgery without haste and panic, choosing a reconstructive plastic surgeon or a specialist in soft tissue or eyelid surgeries.
